We caught one suspicious character casually knocking on our door twice within a few minutes and then going around the side of the house and peeking into the backyard. I have seen this shady guy before when I was returning home and pulling my car into the driveway he was knocking on the door of Unit A. I got out of the car and asked “Can I help you?” He replied “Do you have an extra gas can, trying to get gas for my car?” I said “No, sorry.” He feigned disappointment and got to his real question “Can you spare a buck?” I told him “I have no cash, sorry.” I watched him from afar for a few moments and saw him go to the neighbor across the street and then to their next door neighbor knocking on doors. This time, the Phoenix police were alerted and when he was seen peeking in the backyard. They arrived about 15-20 minutes later and we could see them checking out the premises. Not too bad of a response time.
Tab got us on the FB group for the Historic Garfield Neighborhood, which a friendly neighbor recommended. She posted the photo of our visitor and triggered an avalanche of comments about this guy like: how he’s been caught on numerous security cams, someone passed him a few minutes later on the sidewalk and noticed he appeared out of it and talking to himself, an overzealous neighbor saying he had a bat and was going out to find him and that nobody should call the police, another lady saying he seemed mentally ill and implying that we should go easy on him, another person saying he was spotted across town jogging with neon arm bands on, and even the beginning of a meme where someone photoshopped him over Phoenix downtown claiming he was destoying historic buildings.

No break-ins thus far, so that’s good. Security system is holding up. Now where did I set that eggnog down at?
