Well, there have already been weeks of advance planning and getting bids, etc., but today was the first day of actual work.  I starting ripping out the finishing around the windows and when our handyman showed up we got to work.  First, we ripped out the two windows on the South wall of Unit B and proceeded to do the framing necessary to cover the new hole, put up plywood and some insulation.  We will be removing the wall unit air conditioner and the associated power outlet and wiring in two outlets that will be on either side of the bed that we will be placed on that South wall.  Next, we removed the two windows on the East wall facing the little backyard area, cut some framing to fit the French doors we bought and installed the doors and additional framing needed.  After lots of cleanup, we called it a day.  Later I headed to buy supplies for the next day, installed doorknobs and deadbolts, did some more cleaning, finished cutting down the massive thorny bush on the side of the house and placed a Craigslist ad for some free windows and a refrigerator.  Somewhere in there I forgot to eat dinner…oh well too late now.  Some accounting and record keeping and it’s off to the shower with me.  Gonna be sore tomorrow.

PS:  The windows and fridge have been successfully recycled.  Thank you CL!
